Perhaps your itinerary doesn’t allow for an overnight stay in Moulay Idriss, we understand, but we hope you won’t overlook our beautiful little village and join us for…
Lunch on the terrace
Let us prepare you lunch on the rooftop terrace after a visit to nearby Volubilis and before wandering through the Holy City of Moulay Idriss Zerhoune. Guests enjoy a Taste of Moulay including sampling local olive oil, savouring succulent kebabs and flavourful salads, and munching on sweet nougat – all purchased and prepared locally. or enjoy some lighter options of grilled sardines in chermoula, tapas of moroccan vegetable dishes, soups, tagines and greek salad. We cater for all dietary requirements, please let us know in advance. We now offer pizza and pasta dishes for those who would like an alternative to moroccan fare.
Hidden villages tour
In today’s world it may be hard to imagine a place where children play freely outdoors, bread is freshly baked several times per day in the community oven and donkeys are a common means of transport. But just a short drive from Fes, Meknes and Moulay Idriss this world exists.
We invite guests to explore this area on a private tour, stopping for tea with a local family, enjoying views of the sweeping valleys and small villages, and seeing a side of Morocco that many guests don’t even know exists!
This tour that can be combined with a visit to Volubilis.
Bake your own afternoon tea
At Dar Zerhoune our guests don’t mind when we put them to work making their own afternoon tea. After a visit to the community oven to bake the traditional biscuits prepared with a local woman in her home, guests wash down the fruits of their labour with a cup of Moroccan mint tea. Just like a local would!
Swim in the Roman Baths or explore the forest
How better can we describe an opportunity to swim in the open outdoors, in a bath from roman times filled with natural spring water with views of the jagged rocks of Moulay Idriss, river and mountains. A memorable experience. Or continue further up the mountain path and enjoy afternoon treks in our forest with paths and picnic areas, just 20 minutes drive from Moulay Idriss. If you are passing through, pop into Dar Zerhoune and we will provide you with a map and insider information.
